“The truth is: Belonging starts with self-acceptance. Your level of belonging, in fact, can never be greater than your level of self-acceptance.”
—Brené Brown, research professor for the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work
Through our Engagement initiative, we are building communities of engaged employees who experience a greater sense of belonging. Programs in this initiative include:
- Community Dialogues – Create spaces, such as roundtables, reading circles, and storytelling salons, for employees to share stories and lived experiences on a given topic.
- Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) – Offer forums for like-minded employees to enhance their employment experience.
- Transformative Narratives – Lead the Institute’s practice for using stories to generate social awareness and foster belonging within the campus community.
- Workshops – Offer workshops and trainings to employees on a variety of topics – from bullying to social justice.
