At Georgia Tech, we realize the power of stories in advancing our overarching goal of inclusive excellence, and believe storytelling to be an act of inclusion. By sharing our diverse experiences and perspectives, storytelling powerfully connects us, generates social awareness, and fosters belonging within the campus community.
Members of the Georgia Tech community are owning and expressing their stories through the Transformative Narratives, curated sets of visual, oral, and written storytelling installations. This work empowers the entire campus community in engagement with issues of diversity and inclusion and helps us demonstrate and acknowledge these core values as fundamental attributes of who we are.
Staff Diversity, Inclusion, and Engagement leads the work of excavating, coaching, and publishing our stories. We acknowledge the work of Adam Mastoon, professional photographer, and Jerome Deroy and Murray Nossel at Narativ, Inc. for collaborating with us to make the Transformative Narratives a reality.
The Transformative Narratives’ 24 artistically embellished photographic portraits showcases the rich tapestry of our diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
The Transformative Narratives’ 20 audio stories captures varied aspects of staff members’ journeys, but shares a common thread of introspection and self-expression.
To request hosting the installation(s) of the Transformative Narratives, either the entirety or a portion of the installation, contact TransformativeNarratives@gatech.edu.
